If you are 10 years old and above, have a disability and live in Kent, then Powerchair Football maybe the sport for you!Powerchair football

This month the Wheelchair Football Association is running a festival to attract new youngsters to the game.

Taking place at New Line Learning Academy in Maidstone from 11am-3pm, the day will consist of powerchair football skills and drills, giving newcomers the chance to experience what the sport is all about. In the afternoon small sided games will take place for participants, as well as exhibition games played by local clubs; Greenwich PFC and the two Kent based teams; Sevenoaks and Invicta PFC.

Powerchair Football is a fast, dynamic sport that is designed for people who use electric or manual wheelchairs and caters for a wide range of impairments. Due to the sports unique nature it allows for people of all ages and both genders to participate together.

The festival is free and all specialist equipment and coaching will be provided on the day, but it does mean that spaces are limited.

If you would like to find out more or would like to register, please email Adam McEvoy, South Powerchair Football Development Officer at [email protected]

Kent is lucky to have two established Powerchair Football Clubs, Sevenoaks PFC and Invicta PFC based in Gillingham. Both teams are always looking for new players, so there will be opportunities for participants to continue playing should they be interested.

Sam Bull, National Development Manager for the WFA commented “This is a great opportunity for new people to come and find out about our fantastic sport. Once they see it, try it and start playing I am sure they will love it. With the two local clubs who have teams that compete up to the highest level there is no reason why these new players won’t become stars of the future!”
