Charlton manager Chris Powell has once again been shortlisted for the Manager of the Month award for October.
Powell is again amongst the nominees for the manager’s accolade, along with Orient’s Russell Slade, Huddersfield’s Lee Clark and Sheffield Wednesday’s Gary Megson.
Rhoys Wiggins has been nominated for the player’s award, surprisingly, the first time an Addicks player has featured.
Also nominated are Jordan Rhodes from Huddersfield, Scott Cuthbert of Leyton Orient and Daniel Nardiello of Exeter.
The Manager Of The Month award has been something of a poison chalice, so many fans will not be disappointed if Powell does not win it. After a mid-month stutter against Tranmere and Stevenage, the Addicks have responded with three successive wins against Carlisle, Wycombe and Hartlepool, the latter two coming away from home.
During the storming end to the month, Wiggins has been in superlative form, supplying five assists to supplement his defensive duties.
In the ongoing search for young players with potential, Sky are reporting that Charlton are showing interest in Havant & Waterlooville’s striker, Ollie Palmer.
