Former Glamorgan batsman Mike Powell has been linked with a move to Kent for next season.
Powell was released at the end of last summer after a glittering Glamorgan 15-year career in the first team since making his first-class debut in the championship-winning side of 1997.
The 34-year-old scored 25 centuries in a first-class total of 11,427 runs at an average of nearly 40, as well as scoring 5,425 runs in the various limited-overs competitions.
Following his release, it is understood Powell has held discussions with Kent about the possibility of joining the English county for the next two seasons.
Kent have lost experienced batsmen Joe Denly and Martin van Jaarsveld to Middlesex and Leicestershire respectively and Powell could bolster their middle order.
Kent have also parted company with director of cricket Paul Farbrace after two years in the role.
Powell is a friend of Kent keeper Geraint Jones after the pair played together at Abergavenny and the Welsh batsman recently married in Cardiff with Jones one of the guests.
