Brands Hatch will celebrate motorsport icon Porsche at a brand new festival event on Sunday 21st September.
It will feature classic and modern German sports cars both on and off track.
Organised by MSV in association with Porsche Club GB, the Brands Hatch Festival of Porsche will be the Porsche Club GB’s premier national event for 2014.
It also coincides with the 40th anniversary of the 911 Turbo, and a special celebration will form part of the festivities, along with displays and track demonstrations of legendary cars from the factory.
Also on track will be a full race programme including the Porsche Club GB Porsche Club Championship, Porsche Club Speed Championship and the BRSCC Porsche Championship. Further race content will be announced in the coming weeks. Porsche Club GB will also be organising a Porsche concours for cherished cars.
Off-track attractions will include trade stands, a fun fair and live music, whilst the venue is expected to be surrounded by Porsches of all types and ages, from 356s to Panameras and everything in between.
Nick Hine, Porsche Club GB Chairman, said: “We’re very excited to be involved in this inaugural event at Brands Hatch. The Festival of Porsche promises to be a great day out for anyone who loves the marque, and there are few better backdrops than this famous race circuit.”
Ragnar Schulte, General Manager, Marketing, Porsche Cars Great Britain Limited, added: “We are naturally excited and thankful to MSV and our friends from the Porsche Club GB for hosting this great celebration of Porsche and we hope to welcome many fans and customers there in September.”
“Porsche is synonymous with success on the racetrack, and Brands Hatch is forever associated with great moments, including Pedro Rodriguez in the 917 and later successes with Jacky Ickx, Derek Bell, Derek Warwick and current circuit owner Jonathan Palmer.”
Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of MSV, said: “Porsche has an outstanding reputation for success both on and off the track and it was a privilege to drive the legendary Porsche 956/962 sports prototypes during my racing career.”
“Indeed of my most memorable successes one was winning the Brands Hatch 1000km in 1984 driving a Porsche 956 with Jan Lammers and the other finishing second with the same 956 in the 1985 Le Mans 24 Heures.”
“Brands Hatch is the perfect venue for this prestigious Porsche festival, and my team look forward to delivering a fantastic event this September.”
