Kent’s Danny Webb was in the points in the Moto3 race this weekend at a sweltering Jerez round in Spain.
The local lad qualified in 12th place for the Sunday and race and was hoping that he could be challenging the leaders for the big points.
However, he has to settle for 13th place in the race as his teammate Brad Binder brought his Ambrogio Racing bike home in fourth place.
Webb’s standing in the Championship echoes his place in this weekend’s moto3 race as he is 13th on 13 points, just three behind Alexis Masbou who finished tenth this weekend.
The race was red flagged giving Maverick Vinales took the victory somewhat hollowly as Alan Techer reached out and needed treatment on track, he sustained concussion but should be ok.
As the race was at two third distance there was no need for the race to be restarted when the crash happened so it was called as a result.
This meant that Luis Salom came home in second place with Jonas Folger in third place and Brad Binder in fourth place. Alex Rins had a disappointing weekend as he failed to finish on his KTM machine.
Vinales now leads the Championship by four points from Salom with Rins in third place despite not finishing this weekend’s race.
The Championship now moves to Le Mans in a few weeks’ time as the Moto3 season continues on the 19th May.
