Points for Ray in Italy
Points for Ray in Italy

Bradley Ray had his best weekend of the World Superbike championship season so far, with a double points finish in Italy at the weekend.

Making his first appearance at the Cremona on circuit, Ray hit the ground running in qualifying, by putting his bike on the third row of the grid it meant he was in the running from the off.

He managed to get away well and moved forward, bringing the Yamaha R1 over the line in 11th place scoring five points.

Speaking after the race, Ray said: “I’m really happy with our performance today. We were fast in qualifying and then put together a really good race.

“I tried to hold my position as long as I could, especially down the long straight, and am pleased to have taken points today. Now I can’t wait for tomorrow’s races.”

Sundays Superpole race was another entertaining encounter, unfortunately Ray couldn’t follow up the race one and finished 15th.

In the feature race of the day, Ray got away and was racing with the top ten and looking good. Then his pace started to drop and he lost some places, it was because his tyres were going off and he was trying to manage them home. He did that and came home in 14th for two more points.

Speaking after the weekend, Ray said: “I’m generally pleased with how the weekend has gone, my best of the season so far actually. We were able to fight as part of the chasing group, be consistent, and complete strong races.

“We were just lacking a little power along the straight, but we can be happy with the work done by the entire team. I can’t wait to get to Aragon next weekend and continue in this direction.”
