Kent’s Brad Ray was in the points at his home round of the World Superbike Championship at Donington Park last weekend.
Ray started the weekend off well and was quickly into his stride in free practice, running in the top five.
He qualified for race one in 16th place, and from the sixth row of the grid he was set for a good finish but unfortunately had a tangle with Garret Gerloff in the first corner and ended up in the gravel, ending his race before it had even got going.
In the sprint race on Sunday he showed his talent and that he belongs in the WSBK class with a 12th place finish.
He then took that form into the final race of the weekend and but for his tyre going off towards the end he would have finished higher than 13th place.
It was another solid race weekend for Ray as he looks to establish himself in the championship.
Speaking after the weekend Ray said: “Our hard work paid off today. I finished twelfth in the Superpole race and could have scored the same result in race 2 if the tyres hadn’t lost grip in the final stages.
“I’m very happy, not just with the results but also our constant progress, which leaves me optimistic for the rest of the season, starting with the very next round at Imola. Another important one for us of course, as we’ll be racing in Italy.”
