The latest round of the Duo BRDC F4 championship was easily the best weekend of an already stella season for Tom Jackson.
A third place in race one at Snetterton was an excellent finish, but this was bettered in race two as Tom took his second victory of the season, and he followed that up in the final race of the day with a solid second place finish.
Jackson leaves the race weekend having moved into second place overall in the Championship behind runaway leader Will Palmer.
Snetterton is proving to be something of a happy hunting ground from the young racing driver from Kent who is really starting to show his talents as the season moves on. He took his first victory there just over a month ago, and took his second win at the same track.
He did well to avoid the carnage that unfolded as the race got underway with cars going off the track with various incidents. Having spent laps behind the safety car, Jackson was itching to get underway and get racing, he had a four way battle for the lead but it was Tom who managed to weave his way into the lead and move off to take the victory.
Speaking after the race, a delighted Jackson said: “It was awesome. I got my first win here at Snetterton and now I’ve added my second so there is obviously something about this track that suits my driving style and I go quickly at. I got into second place at the start and I was right on Chris Mealin’s tail. Luckily by the end of the race I got passed him to take victory.”
The third and final race of the weekend saw Tom starting from second on the grid looking to come away with another win or at the very least take a podium finish.
Unfortunately he didn’t really have an answer for the charging series leader in Will Palmer, who got in front and built an unassailable lead, but Tom was racey enough to keep hold of his second place. He was far enough of the entertaining battle for third and fourth not to be troubled.
Giving his thoughts after race two, he added: “This is the first time I’ve ever got three podiums from three races on a weekend, including a win so I can’t complain. Its lots of points in the championship so it’s a great weekend and hopefully I can carry that form into Donington. I’m now clear of my rivals in second in the standings and that was the aim for the weekend.”
It was an excellent weekend for Tom and easily the best one of his fledgling career so far and in his second season in the BRDC F4, it shows just how far he has come in such a short space of time. He will be hopeful of keeping up that momentum at the penultimate round of the season at Donington Park in September.
