Luke Reade couldn’t have asked for a better finish to the weekend with a podium in the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 Supercup.
Reflecting on an excellent weekend, he said: “What a weekend. We witnessed all the highs and lows of motorsport in 48 hours. Oulton Park is one of the circuits I have never personally tested at,
so going into the weekend I wanted to continue our upward trend,
aiming (and hoping) for a spot in the top 10.
“Practice showed we had great pace up the top of the timesheets and that momentum followed into a wet qualifying session where we sat P2 for most of it, before getting pipped into P4. As we got ready for our second run to go for pole, the qualifying session was stopped by a crash and we maintained 4th. Our best of the year!
“It was dry for race one and we had a great race battling with the top 5 positions the whole way. Crossing the line and the slow down lap was amazing, the first time a full capacity crowd has been back to a race meeting since 2019! Not to mention our first SuperCup podium in the Billy Ruffian car. Finishing a fine 3rd place!
“Sunday our race wasn’t due until the very end of the day which gave us time to chat with race fans, show them around the SuperCup Car and hand out a fair few Billy Ruffian hats. Unfortunately the race never really got going, eager to progress from 3rd I was pushing too hard and span on the exit of turn one.
“I am overwhelmed by the support and kind messages I have been sent over the weekend, I am extremely grateful to be able to race at this level.
“With Knockhill (Scotland) in a fortnight, there’s little time to prepare, but I can assure you we will be there having learnt from Oulton Park and ready to compete for the top step!
