Mike Conway finished second in the Le Petit Le Mans race last weekend, the final race of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
With his team mates Felipe Nasr and Pipo Derani in title contention, Mike looked forward to helping them in their battle.
The #31 looked in fine form from the opening practice session and took an excellent pole position for the race.
The thrilling ten-hour was poised for a dramatic conclusion, as no clear leader emerged until the final couple of hours.
Mike and the #31 crew led the race but their progress was hampered by traffic, allowing the #55 Mazda to scythe past.
However, the trio put in a valiant defence against their main rivals in the #10 Acura and held off a late charge.
Speaking after the weekend, Conway said: “I’m delighted for all of the team. I see first-hand just how hard they work so it’s rightly deserved that they get to enjoy this championship win, congratulations to Felipe, Pipo and the whole crew. For me, my goal was simple – to help in any way I could.
“Strategy really defined this race and the margins were incredibly tight which meant we had to be on top of things at all times. The final few hours were really tense but we pushed on and took the podium.
“I’d like to say thank you to everyone at Action Express Racing for a great year – it’s a fitting send-off for Felipe and I’m already looking forward to Daytona in January.”
