Kent golfer Alfie Plant missed the cut in his first tournament as a professional in the Portugal Masters at Vilamoura.
The Bexleyheath player, who was a member of the Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup team earlier this month before turning professional, fired two rounds of three-over-par 74 on the Dom Pedro Victoria course to miss the cut by nine shots.
But there was better news regarding Birchington’s Max Orrin who went into the third round of the European Challenge Tour’s Kazahkstan Open in joint third place.
Orrin shot opening rounds of 69 and 67 at the Nurtau GC to be three shots behind the second-round leader, Sweden’s Mikael Lundberg, on eight-under-par 136.
Herne Bay’s Steve Tiley was a shot further back after rounds of 68 and 69 but Bearsted’s Matt Ford missed the cut by seven shots after shooting 74 and 75.
