Kent’s Alfie Plant will be hoping to help the Great Britain & Ireland team to victory over the United States in the 46^th Walker Cup match at Los Angeles Country Club this weekend.

The 25-year-old Sundridge Park GC member is part of a 10-man GB&I team who will be aiming to defend the trophy after securing a 16½-9½ victory in the 2015 match at Royal Lytham & St Annes.

Plant, who will be turning professional after the Walker Cup, won this year’s European Amateur Championship and also collected the Silver Medal for finishing the leading amateur in the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in July.
