There is an Isthmian League South East Easter Saturday derby when Phoenix Sports host Sheppey United.
In their first campaign back in the league since their season in the Southern Counties East, the Sports haven’t had the easiest of times and are one place above the drop zone with a five point buffer. On Saturday, they lost three-one at Broadbridge Heath. They were two-nil down at half time. Although they pulled one back midway through the second half, scored by Tashi-Jay Kwayie, they conceded again in stoppage time.
Currently, in eleventh place, Sheppey are almost certainly safe, and would have to win every remaining game and hope for a lot of slip ups to qualify for the play-offs. They lost two-nil at Chichester City on Saturday which was their fourth consecutive defeat.
At home, Phoenix have won four, drawn five and lost seven, whilst, on the road, the Ites have won four, drawn four and lost five.
When the two teams met at Sheppey back in August, the hosts won convincingly. Dan Bradshaw opened the scoring in the fifteenth minute and the Ites held their lead until half time. Jacob Lambert added a second four minutes after the break and late goals by Alex Willis and Maliq Morris sealed the win.
Both teams will want the points, Phoenix for obvious reasons, and Sheppey to arrest their losing run, so it should be a competitive encounter.
