On Wednesday evening Phoenix Sports entertain Tunbridge Wells in a Southern Counties East Football League fixture.
Following the weekend’s skirmishes, Steve O’Boyle’s side sat in eighth place in the table with twelve points in seven games while their midweek visitors were three places below and one point behind having completed ten league fixtures.
On Saturday, the Sports extended their unbeaten league run to three games with a two-nil win at Bearsted despite being reduced to ten men just eighteen minutes in. They were already one up through former Crystal Palace midfielder Dave Martin when Joe Denny was dismissed.
Another veteran, Andy Pugh, scored the second to calm their nerves with eighteen minutes remaining.
Luke Carpenter’s Tunbridge Wells team come into the match off the back of a two all draw with second placed Deal Town. Trevor McCreadie put them ahead in the fourth minute, but Ben Chapman levelled three minutes later.
There was no further scoring until another two goals in quick succession burst in the second period. With sixteen minutes remaining, Aaron Millbank put Deal ahead, but the hosts were only behind for two minutes with Ezekiel Ebooa scoring the equaliser.
Both teams will be looking for the three points knowing that no honours are decided after two months of the season. The game takes place at the Mayplace Ground, kicking off at 7:45.
