Sky are reporting that Forest Green Rovers have tabled a £60,000 bid for Charlton keeper Dillon Phillips.
Phillips won a National League winners medal when he was on loan at Cheltenham Town two seasons ago. He is desperate to play regularly and was looking for a loan move in the summer.
Phillips route to the first team has been blocked by Bolton loanee, Ben Amos, but he has made six appearances in the vatious cup competitions this season.
Phillips is highly regarded at The Valley and though his contract runs out in the summer, Charlton have a year’s option which theuy seem certain to activate.
If the Addicks are wiling to let him go, Phillips will have to balance Forest Green’s league position against if he will become Charlton number one anytime soon. He would also probably have to accept a hefty pay cut.
Neither Ashley Maynard-Brewer, nor Jordan Beeney, are yet ready to step up to being first team back up.
It is a difficult time for Karl Robinson recruitment wise, though he might not be averse to letting Phillips go out on loan if he could bring in an experienced deputy for Amos.
For a variety of reasons, the Addicks are likely to reject the bid.
