Dartford boss Ady Pennock has praised the way his side recovered from losing their long unbeaten run by coming from behind to beat Horsham last weekend as the Darts prepare to visit Lewes this weekend.

Talking with KSN this week, the Darts boss told us, “I was very pleased last weekend, it was such a good result! Losing the twenty-one-game run that we were on, we knew it would come to an end eventually, but the way we bounced back last Saturday was exceptional!

“Horsham were a very good side, and they were very good first half even though we did miss a penalty before half time to make it 1-1. They asked us a lot of questions but second half we were the better side, it was the old cliche about a game of two halves.

“To score late goals as we did, I think shows the character of the team, the team spirit that we’ve got and the never say die spirit that we have.

“It was a great feeling and great for the supporters as well, the fans were fantastic they really were. It was a very good three points! We haven’t scored many… well, we hadn’t scored any late goals this season and to do it in a very important game for us and it was good to get the three points!”

“The three points gives us a four-point lead now over Horsham (Darts are second and Horsham third) but we have a really tough run-in home and away, we have without doubt the hardest run-in of the “so-called” top eight really!

“Billericay (the current leaders) have admitted publicly that they have the “easiest” run-in. But seriously there are no easy games in this League, but we have some hard games coming up starting at Lewes on Saturday.

“It will be hard as they had a very good result Saturday winning 3-1 at Dulwich, but we are buzzing, we had a good session earlier in the week and had another one Thursday; the boys are in a good place! We don’t shout from the roof-tops and we respect every team that we play against and we’re just going out and we’ll see where it takes us!”

“Lewes is always a very hard place to go to, it’s a beautiful playing surface, half astro half grass and it’s a very good pitch. They play some really good football and we must be on it and ask them questions straight away and be on our front foot as it is a tough place to go.”

“We lost our last away game at Cheshunt 3-0, but we do have a good away record this season, second only to Dover but we are in good form, and we have lost just that game in our last twenty-two games which is fantastic, it’s incredible. But to be honest, if we get into the play-offs it would be a little miracle… but we are going the right way!”
