Of the sides challenging for promotion in the breakaway top three Margate face the easier game this Saturday away at Peacehaven & Telscombe as the two sides above them, Hendon and Maidstone United come head to head. Margate will therefore be looking to take full advantage and close the gap on their rivals.
Margate come into April and the Easter programme on the back of a Freddie Lapado inspired 3-0 away win at Metropolitan Police in midweek despite their form indifferent of late – It is Margate’s away form keeping them in the promotion hunt with only one defeat in their last eight games on the road and they will be hoping to maintain that form this weekend.
This is the return fixture between the two sides this season with Margate aiming to put the record straight after The Magpies left Hartsdown Park the weekend before Christmas with the three points after a late winner to take the spoils.
A win for Margate will assure them of a least a promotion play-off place and with two games in hand on league leaders Maidstone they will certainly not settle for a place in the end of season lottery – The early season promotion favourites no doubt keen to justify that tag.
The Magpies will certainly be weary of their visitors going into this game having lost their last three games without scoring and will be aiming to set that record straight to take a step towards safety in the Ryman Premier.
