The only downside of Charlton’s tremendous victory at Portsmouth on Saturday was that they picked up another couple of injuries.
Tariqe Fosu damaged his hamstring, and is likely to be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season.
Depending on the seriousness of the injury, Fosu could be available for the play-offs if Charlton are involved.
Lewis Page was withdrawn with an Achilles problem, but the left-back’s injury is not thought to be serious. This is what Page said after the game:
“Only impact stamp on the Achilles, nothing serious.”
Page has had a difficult time with injuries since his arrival at The Valley. He has been in good form recently and has shown the attacking side of his game.
His presence gives Lee Bowyer the option of playing Jay Dasilva further forward.
All thoughts will now turn to the Blackburn on Saturday. Rovers have a game at Doncaster on Tuesday evening, and if they win, they will travel to The Valley already assured of Championship football next season.
Whether that scenario would be advantageous to Charlton is a matter for conjecture.
But what is fact is that Bowyer’s side will go into the Blackburn game full of confidence.
