Bromley’s Gary Paffett will be taking to the track in a Formula One car this Friday as he takes part in the Young Driver test at Silverstone.
The McLaren Mercedes Test and Development driver has already taken part in 71 official Formula One tests for McLaren since 2001, as well as racking up thousands of miles in their simulator at their headquarters in Woking.
The 32-year-old is currently competing in the DTM series and has done so since 2003 and is currently fifth in the Championship.
Speaking about being given the opportunity to take part in the young drivers test for McLaren on Friday, Paffett said: “Most of my work is done in the simulator so it’s a great opportunity to feel what the car is like on track so I can relate it back to the simulator.
“My main priority on Friday will be to help the team better understand the new Pirelli tyres ready for introduction at Budapest next week. I am looking forward to getting back in the car and giving as much feedback to the team as possible.”
