Bromley’s Gary Paffett will be back on the track in the UK in May when the DTM German Touring Car Series comes to Brands Hatch.

Last season’s Championship runner-up will be looking to challenge for the overall Championship again this season, as he looks to add to the title that he one in 2005.

He will be driving the Mercedes-Benz once again this season and his teammate Jamie Green will also be a title rival this season too. Paffett is the more experienced driver and is currently the most successful driver who is currently on the grid, which will hopefully give him an advantage.

DTM is recognised the work over as the biggest challenge in Touring Cars, and once again it will be a battle of the German car manufacturers, Audi, BMW and Mercedes for the constructors championship.

Timo Glock joins the DTM series in 2013, bringing with him several years’ worth of experience and knowledge having raced in 94 Formula One Races from 2004 to 2012. He will be driving for the current constructors champions BMW.

Interestingly a new rule change for the 2013 season could give Glock an advantage, as he has a lot of experience with the new Drag Reduction System (DRS) that has been brought in for 2013 in DTM. This will be deployed down the straight at Brands Hatch, which will make for a lot of overtaking during the race.

There will also be option tyres for the drivers now as well just like Formula One which means that strategies will play an all important part in the race weekend, with soft compound tyres now having to be used.

The race will have a number of support races including Formula Four which is a new series from MSVR and features Rochester based driver Simon Rudd.
