Nothing less than a win will do for Gillingham if they are to keep their play-off hopes alive at the Kassam Stadium this weekend.
Andy Hessenthaler’s side go into Saturday’s game with Oxford United firm in the knowledge that a defeat would leave them almost mathematically unable to make the play-offs, where as a win could see them just one point outside the top seven.
To say this game is a six pointer is an understatement and The Gills will be going all out for a win.
If they are to do it, they’ll have to do it without midfielders Jack Payne (hamstring) and Danny Jackman (groin) who both picked up injuries in the past week.
That will mean there will be at least two changes to the starting eleven with Gavin Tomlin and Simon King pushing for places in the side after overcoming their repsective injuries.
Another couple of players pushing for a place in the side are Jo Kuffour and Danny Spiller with the pair having come off the bench and impressed against Dagenham & Redbridge on Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, right back Matt Fish is rated as doubtful with a knee problem, with Jack Evans waiting in the wings to come back into the side.
The game comes just too soon for both Charlie Lee (ankle) and Curtis Weston (knee) with the pair hoping to be fit in time for the game against Swindon Town.
Therefore, The Gills could line up like this:
Gazzaniga, Evans, Essam, Frampton, Martin, Whelpdale, Montrose, Spiller, Tomlin, Kedwell, Kuffour.
Subs: King, O Lee, Oli, Vine, Miller.
