Following their relegation from the Vanarama National, Welling United will start their first campaign back in the South division with a trip to Oxford City.
City start their second in the division, following their move from the North, with terrible sadness following the death of their Managing Director, Colin Taylor. It is expected that there will be a minute of remembrance for him before the start.
Meanwhile, at Park View Road, there have been many changes and it is likely that only Sam Corne will start from the players at the club last season.
Manager, Mark Goldberg has options in every position. Chris Lewington will be marshalling a back four that is likely to have Mitchell Nelson and Jordon Brown taking the full back berths.
Sean Francis and Dean Leacock impressed against the Millwall XI who played on Monday and may have secured starting places at centre back, especially with George Allen injured and Ricky Hayles having missed the last two games. An alternative option would be Julian Banton.
Midfield looks likely to be made up of Sam Hatton, Corne, Danny Waldren and Oliver Sprague. Pierre Dubois-Joseph is another who has been out injured but would challenge for a place if fit. New signing Warren Whitely and youngster Archie Johnson, who has impressed in pre season are alternatives.
Up front, there is much competition for places. Harry Crawford was lively alongside target man Jamie Slabber against Millwall, but when they were replaced, both Bobby Devyne and Jonte Smith put in compelling reasons why they should be selected.
Regardless of whoever gets the nod, Goldberg will be looking for his new team to get off to a flying start.
