Invicta travelled without Mark Lee, Grant Baxter and Frankie Harvey with Mark McGill continuing in the Invicta goal.

The game was only 22 seconds old when Welshman Nicky Lewis shot from distance and the shot fumbled off Oxford netminder James Skaife and into the net, Juraj Huska claiming the assist.

Skaife made amends later however, saving from Arran Strawson (3:40 mins) and Callum Fowler (6:20mins), whilst at the other end Mark McGill saved from Evan Mackintosh and Josh Florey.

Goal two for Invicta came on 11:01, Callum Fowler prodding home after Skaife had been rounded, with Huska and Strawson getting assists.

Only 15 seconds later, shorthanded Invicta were 3-nil to the good, Juraj Huska scoring this time and Elliott Dewey assisting.

Oxford pulled a goal back on 16 minutes when Josh Florey beat the Invicta defence to race clear and pull the puck back to Evan Mackintosh to rifle past the helpless Mark McGill.

James Skaife done well to keep the score to 3-1 before the end of the first period, denying both Michal Oravec and Juraj Huska when they both broke clear with only Skaife to beat.

Similar to the first period, Invicta didn’t take long to score at the start of the second period with Anthony Leone shooting past Skaife on 21:03 after being set-up by Huska.

Skaife then denied both Fowler (22:21) and Oravec (25:00) as Invicta searched for goal number 5. The fifth goal eventually came on 27:00 with Juraj Huska tapping home after Anthony Leone done well to beat a couple of Oxford players to set-up his fellow teammate.

James Pentecost pulled a goal back for Oxford on 30:19, and Oxford hit the goal frame a minute later as Oxford tried to up the momentum.

They had the perfect opportunity to score another goal on from 33:53 when both Peter Beerling and Nicky Lewis were sent to the Invicta penalty box, leaving the Dynamos to defend a 3 on 5 for a full two minutes.

Mark McGill was reduced to little action for the whole two minutes, with Arran Strawson, Andy Smith and Callum Fowler not only defending well to keep Oxford out for the penalty, but also threatening up the other end of the ice, much to the dismay of the Oxford supporters.

It was probably ironic that once Invicta returned back to full strength, Andy Smith would score 37:10 with Callum Fowler assisting to make it 6-2.

Evan Mackintosh didn’t take the Invicta goal well, and got a ten minute misconduct penalty for his protests.

The third period came to life on 48:42, Evan Mackintosh calling out at Anthony Leone, with the Dynamos captain flooring the Oxford player with ease.

With Mackintosh getting his second major penalty of the night, his game was ended prematurely.  Leone got a 10+2+2 penalty for his troubles.

Oxford scored the final goal of the night on 50:19 through Zsolt Mastaleriu but it was the Dynamos who came away with the two points.

Mark McGill ended the night only facing 23 shots all night, but man of the match awards went to Invicta’s Anthony Leone and Oxford’s Josh Florey.
