Tristan Ovenden increased his championship lead after round four of the British Rallycross season from Pembery in his Suzuki Swift.
A strong start saw him repeatedly finish in the top places this would give him enough points to secure pole position for the final. Contact at the first tight corner saw him drop to second place. He then drove door to door with Chris Mullen onto the first loose section narrowly being squeezed into third place.
He then waited for the opportunity to make the pass on Mullen which he seized at the end of the second lap when shown an opportunity to pass. He then had Graham Rodemark in first place firmly in his sights. Only finishing in second place by eight hundredths of a second!
Tristan will now look forward to going into round 5 still leading the championship. It will be held at his home circuit, Lydden Hill over the August bank holiday. At round 1 back in March Tristan topped the podium, something he will be looking to repeat.
Speaking about the race weekend, Ovenden said: “Overall a good weekend, slightly disappointed not to have won after qualifying on pole, but the first corner is virtually a hairpin which inevitably makes contact possible. However second place is good points scored for the championship.”
