When considering celebrity links to non-league football you would be hard pressed to find a more unique one than that of successful British rock band ‘The Libertines’ and Margate Football club.

Having sponsored Margate FC  amid much fanfare last season, The Libertines have made two major announcements ahead of the upcoming season.

Firstly they will be continuing their sponsorship of the club for another season but in addition to this the two have joined up to launch a new historic third kit for the upcoming season.

The History third kit represents the opportunity for fans and supporters to become part of the club’s history with their names appearing on the kit alongside that of Pete Doherty, Carl Barat, John Hassall and Gary Powell.

The new shirt is currently available on pre-sale and if it is purchased before the 31st July supporters can have their name emblazoned on the shirt.

The kit has been designed to incorporate up to 1000 supporters and fans from all around the world and with over 500 having already being sold, fans are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible should they not want to miss out.

Margate have announced that the kit will be used in all cup competitions this season including the Emirates FA Cup, the Buildbase FA Trophy and Velocity Trophy.
