A report in the Sunday People is saying that Michael Morrison has turned down offers from Ipswich, Rotherham and Wigan and will pen a new two-year deal at The Valley this week.
The People have good sources at The Valley, so the story could well be true.
Morrison is now 26-years-old and should be approaching his peak. He has been a virtual ever present since arriving from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2011, starting 134 of the 138 league games the Addicks have played since his arrival.
In addition, Morrison has made 9 starts plus 3 substitute appearances in the various cup competitions, scoring a total of 8 goals. The deal could be confirmed as early as Monday, when Charlton will hold a press conference at The Valley.
The same paper is reporting that Diego Poyet is wanted by both Chelsea and Manchester City, though this story seems more speculative and is less detailed.
Clearly Poyet has admirers amongst the top clubs, though it is unlikely they would yet consider him as a regular first teamer. It is a difficult situation for Poyet, any gifted young player would be keen to join a top club, but Poyet needs to be playing regular first team football in order to develop his game.
Poyet is lucky to have a father who has spent many years in the English game, he will get plenty of expert advice before he makes a decision.
