Howie Mainwaring-Smart will be linking up with Tommy Hill and the ePayMe Yamaha team in the next round of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park.
Mainwaring who recently left the Smiths Racing team will deputise for Broc Parkes at the upcoming August Bank Holiday round of the season.
Mainwaring will join John Hopkins for the eighth round of the season at the Lincolnshire circuit, with Parkes returning for the Oulton Park triple-header before the Showdown. Mainwaring is a race winner in the Superbike class and is looking forward to his first taste of the ePayMe Yamaha at one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar.
Speaking about being back in the BSB albeit briefly, Mainwaring said: “You can only imagine how happy I am to have been given this opportunity. I have tested the Yamaha, although not the one I am going to race at Cadwell Park and it really seemed to suit my style.
“I am excited about this chance to race with Tommy’s team and although Cadwell Park is a bit quirky, I have no pressure on me so I can just build up through the weekend. I am really looking forward to Cadwell Park and doing the best job I can for the team.”
Tommy who knows Howie well is delighted to have Howie on board the Yamaha deputising for Parkes.
He said: “I believe Cadwell Park is one of the best circuits on the calendar, but also the most demanding. The circuit itself was one of my all-time favourites so I am hoping that when it comes to next weekend we can have some strong results as a team, because we are always striving to the best job possible.
“As a team it has been difficult because we have agreed with Broc Parkes to complete the final rounds of the season, however Cadwell Park clashes with the World Endurance event in Germany and we respect Broc’s existing commitments with Yamaha, who could potentially win the title.
“We wanted to have both ePayMe Yamahas on the grid at Cadwell Park and with this as a one off appearance; we have decided to give Howie the opportunity. He has had a difficult season and he can go into this event with no preconceptions or pressure.
“It is great that we were able to test with John this week and he is continuing to rebuild the strength in his shoulder and we are looking to put the ePayMe Yamaha back where it should be. As a team we are ready to take on the next event and having a strong weekend.”
