Gillingham’s leading scorer Vadaine Oliver has been linked with a move to National League side Wrexham.
Oliver has bagged five goals in a struggling Gillingham side this season, a side that’s scored just the eighteen times in a disappointing League One campaign.
Before being relieved of his duties at the weekend, former manager Steve Evans confirmed Oliver, skipper Kyle Dempsey and Jack Tucker had been subject to bids from other clubs in the January transfer window.
Dempsey is believed to have attracted the attention of Bolton Wanderers, whilst Tucker is regarded as having a bright future in the game.
Meanwhile, thirty year old Oliver has attracted the attention of a number of clubs having bagged 17 goals in a Gills shirt last season.
With significant investment at the North Wales based side, Wrexham are hoping to build a side that can get them back in the Football League and they see Oliver as a big part of those plans.
Losing Oliver at this stage of the season would be a massive blow to a Gillingham side that lost goalkeeper Jamie Cumming after being recalled by parent club Chelsea only to be loaned back out to Milton Keynes Dons.
