O’Grady deal off?
O’Grady deal off?

Sky have reported that they ‘understand’ the deal for Chris O’Grady to join Charlton is off after the Addicks failed to agree terms with the player.

Sky normally quote ‘sources’ with these type of stories, the use of the word ‘understands’ could mean that the information originated from O’Grady’s representatives.

Significantly, speculation about interest from Blackburn and Ipswich has, thus far, failed to materialise.

O’Grady had his best season in 2013/14, plundering 15 goals for relegated Barnsley in the Championship. Now 28-years-old, this is probably the best opportunity O’Grady will get to secure a good contract.

Clubs and agents both use the media to try to achieve their objectives and the Sky report will keep O’Grady’s name in the forefront of the minds of Championship clubs.

Whether the story will provoke an improved offer from Charlton, or generate interest from other clubs remains to be seen, but it would be no surprise if the deal is resurrected.
