North Ferriby Utd 1-2 Bromley

In a tight battle between two struggling sides a late strike from Blair Turgott gave Bromley a vital win away on Humberside that puts an eight point gap between The Ravens and the bottom four heading into November.north-ferriby-vs-bromley-1

The game started in open fashion with both sides creating early chances, Turgott forced a save from Hull City loanee keeper Rory Watson, while North Ferriby missed two good chances when Kyle Wootton fired wide and Reece Thompson was denied by Alan Julian when clear on goal. Lee Minshull went close for The Ravens, before Thompson was denied again, this time by a brave block from Jack Holland. Bromley move the ball round well on a tricky surface, but failed to make anything of their possession, while Ferriby went close again when left back Taron Hare hit the bar from distance. Late in the half Brad Goldberg and Dave Martin had efforts saved by Watson, while Wootton saw his header from a corner saved by Julian.

The second half saw The Villagers start on the front foot and they took the lead on 51minutes when Wootton’s low shot from the edge of the box was parried by Julian into the path of Thompson who made no mistake from close range to register North Ferriby’s seventh goal of the campaign.

Neil Smith acted quickly to going behind by bringing on George Porter and the sub made an immediate impact combing well with Goldberg before drilling a low shot past Watson to level the scores on 56minutes. The lively Turgott fired over soon after, before Danny Emerton missed a great chance for the home side firing a Thompson pass wide from six yards out.

The home side dominated for a spell, with The Ravens on the back foot, their best chances falling to Danny Clarke who fired over and Thompson who had a header saved by Julian. With fifteen minutes to go Bromley rallied Goldberg played in sub Tobi Sho-Silva whose powerful effort was well saved by Watson and the young keeper saved another Turgott strike with his feet soon after.north-ferriby-vs-bromley-2

Bromley were denied a penalty when Sho-Silva was brought down on the bye line just inside the box only for Referee Rushton to give a free kick two yards outside the area. With the game looking to be heading for a draw, which would probably have been affair result, The Ravens created one last chance when Turgott carved his way through the home defence before drilling the ball under Watson from a tight angle and into the corner of the net to grab the points for the visitors and send the large travelling support wild behind the goal. Bromley then held out in the five minutes of injury time that followed to take all three points back home.

The result will provide Neil Smith with a much needed boost ahead of a ten day break, while North Ferriby will be wondering just how they came away from this entertaining match with nothing.
