Non League Weekend Preview

As the football season begins to reach its final stages, there is plenty to play for across all levels of non-league football.

The highlight of the weekend comes from Hayes Lane where Bromley are three games away from a Wembley cup final. This weekend they host Spennymoor Town of the National League North in the fourth round of the FA Trophy with a place in the two-legged semi-finals at stake.

This fixture means Bromley will be missing out on National League action, allowing other sides to build up pressure on the playoff places. One of these clubs are Ebbsfleet United. Daryl McMahon’s side sit two points outside the top seven and make the long trip to Hartlepool this weekend.

Dover, who occupy the final playoff place, would be unable to push any higher into the top positions if they were to win away to Fylde on Saturday afternoon.

Despite having not won in the league since mid December, Maidstone Unite could still have a major impact on the top half of the division this weekend. They host promotion chasing Tranmere at the Gallagher Stadium knowing they are likely to stay in 17th position by the end of the weekend.

In the National League South, Dartford are looking to join non-league’s elite yet again. The North Kent club currently sit top of their league and will look to preserve their place when they host Cornwall’s Truro City.

The county’s other side in step two of non league are Welling United, and they have the chance to go into the playoff places if they get all three points at Concord Rangers.

Further down the pyramid there is a chance for an all- Kent playoff final in the Bostik Premier at the end of the season. Folkestone Invicta’s season received a huge boost in midweek when they beat big spending Billericay Town on Tuesday night.

Margate sit just one point below the Essex club in the league and have a chance to go into the top spot this weekend when they travel to Suffolk to face Needham Market. Invicta can rise to third if they win at Kingstonian.

Elsewhere in the Bostik Premier, are already destined to come out of the weekend with no position changes, but three points against Met Police could help them in the coming weeks.

At the fourth level of non- league, the title race is hotting up. Two points separate Lewes from second placed Cray Wanderers who travel to Ashford United in an all- Kent clash on Saturday.

Phoenix Sports are able to assist their neighbouring club’s hopes for automatic promotion when they host the top placed side this weekend.

Elsewhere Hythe and Ramsgate are at home against Horsham and Molesey respectively whilst Thamesmead travel to Carshalton and Herne Bay return to the road to face East Grinstead Town.

VCD and Faversham’s away trips are the final two fixtures in the top four levels of non-league this weekend. The Vickers travel to Sussex to play Shoreham whilst Faversham make the trip to South Park.
