This weekend kick-starts the busy schedule of football over the festive period and there are plenty of matches to choose from if you want to start the festive period with some football.
If other results go their way this weekend, Dover Athletic could go top of the National League table. Chris Kinnear’s side make the long trip to North Wales to face Wrexham who sit one point and one place above the Whites.
If Dover want to reach the top of the league by Christmas they’ll be looking for a favour from Bromley. The North Kent side host first placed Macclesfield at Hayes Lane this weekend knowing a win could push them into the playoff places.
Both Ebbsfleet United and Maidstone United sit a solitary point behind the Ravens in 10th and 11th places respectively. Whilst Ebbsfleet are faced with a long trip to the North West on Saturday to face AFC Fylde, Maidstone are closer to home when they face Leyton Orient at the Gallagher Stadium.
Dartford are looking for promotion back to the National League this season and they come into the weekend top of the Southern section of tier two of non-league. The Darts are one of three teams on 38 points but will look to break away from Braintree and Hampton and Richmond Borough this weekend when they host the Essex club.
Elsewhere in the National League South this weekend Welling United make the short trip across the Thames to face Chelmsford City as both sides look for a stable playoff position as we reach the second half of the season.
All three of the county’s Bostik premier teams are also fighting to get into the playoffs come the end of the season. Just four places separate Folkestone Invicta, Margate and Tonbridge Angels with Invicta missing out on the top five on goal difference. This weekend Neil Cugley’s side make the trip to struggling Needham Market.
Margate face a tough test this weekend when they welcome Wingate and Finchley to Thanet. The London side are looking to bridge the gap between mid-table and the playoff race.
One of the teams the Blues could go ahead of with a point this weekend is Tonbridge. The Angels are clinging onto the top clubs in the division and a win against Harrow Borough on Saturday could help them to turn on the style in this busy festive period.
There are two all-Kent clashes in the Bostik South on Saturday. The first of these comes from Reachfields where Hythe Town welcome Phoenix Sports in a match between 7th and 8th in the division.
VCD Athletic’s Old Road ground also sees inter-county action when the North Kent club welcome Ashford United who, despite points being deducted from Shoreham and Molesey, still aren’t safe.
Herne Bay are also on the road to play Chipstead whilst second placed Cray Wanderers can put further pressure on Lewes with a win in Surrey at Molesey.
Elsewhere around the county, Faversham Town host Walton Casuals whilst Sittingbourne welcome high flying Lewes. Ramsgate and Thamesmead Town are on the road at Hastings United and Horsham respectively to finish a weekend of football in the top four tiers of Kent’s vibrant non-league scene.
