With no cup fixtures, there is a full schedule of league action for Kent’s teams this weekend.
Ebbsfleet United are one of three teams in the National League with 31 points and they could go as high as ninth this weekend with a win against Guiseley. The return fixture in Yorkshire was frustrating for the Fleet where they took a point back to Kent after a 2-2 draw on the opening day of the season.
One of the teams the Gravesend club could overtake is Maidstone United. Jay Saunders’ squad travel to Maidenhead on Saturday with a chance to reach the playoff places. The Stones will return to league action after being knocked out of the FA Cup at the second round stage last week.
Bromley and Dover Athletic already occupy to of the playoff places and after they’ll look to return to winning ways after their 2-2 draw last weekend. Bromley face a trip to Eastleigh whilst Chris Kinnear’s side welcome Hartlepool United to Crabble.
Dartford returned to the top of the National League South recently, and they’ll be hoping to extend their three point lead this weekend when they travel to struggling Hungerford Town.
Elsewhere in the southern section of the National League, Welling United are another side to sit just outside the playoffs in their division. A point could be enough to send them as high as fifth whilst a draw could put them into the top seven spots. On Saturday they welcome Truro City to Park View Road in the hope of getting a different result from their 3-2 defeat in Cornwall earlier in the season.
Moving down to step three of the non-league pyramid and the story of the season comes from the Cheriton Road Sports Ground. Folkestone Invicta, despite their limited budget, currently sit in fourth place with two games in hand over third placed Staines Town. This weekend they host mid table Harrow Borough.
Elsewhere in the league, Margate and Tonbridge Angels sit within one point of each other. This weekend the Thanet club welcome Hendon to Hartsdown Park whilst the Angels make the trip to Worthing.
There are two all-Kent fixtures in the Bostik South this weekend. The first comes from Herne Bay where the Bay welcome Phoenix Sports in a 9th vs 12th match up.
Cray Wanderers, the highest placed of all the county’s teams at step 4, host Hythe Town on Saturday afternoon. A win for the Cannons would put them into the playoff places whilst also overtaking their opponents this weekend.
There is a full schedule in the league this weekend. Sittingbourne are hosts in the early game when they welcome Guernsey to Kent and down the A2 Faversham Town are at home to Greenwich Borough.
VCD Athletic also host South Park whilst Ramsgate and Ashford United are on the road at Chipstead and first placed Lewes respectively.
