Non League Midweek preview
Non League Midweek preview

The main midweek focus this week is in the National League with three of Kent’s four sides having home games in Halloween week!

And the one’s that travel don’t have to go to far, as Harry Wheeler takes his Maidstone United side the short distance up Bluebell Hill and the M2 / A2 to Stonebridge Road to face Daryl McMahon and his Ebbsfleet United side.

The Fleet will be looking to kickstart their season at home base where incredibly they’ve won just four out of a possible twenty-four points with just a solitary win.

Coming off the back of Saturday’s point at second placed Salford City, McMahon will be looking to bring that sort of form back to Kent.

For Wheeler and the Stones, Saturday’s 1-3 home reverse to Solihull Motors couldn’t have come at a worse time, and they go into Tuesday’s derby just one place out of the relegation zone and on a run of three defeats in a row and four without a win.

Meanwhile, down at Crabble, Andy Hessenthaler’s Dover Athletic welcome Dagenham and Redbridge in a real six-pointer at the end of the table neither side had hoped to be at the end of October.

Dover start the week rock bottom after Saturday’s defeat at Cressing Road against Braintree Town when a penalty twelve minutes from time sealed the points for the home side.

So going into Tuesday, Hessenthaler will take his second bow at Crabble as manager and will be looking for the points that will kickstart the season.

Elsewhere, Braintree Town will be looking for back to back wins as they travel to Hayes Lane to face Bromley whose defeat at Boreham Wood on Saturday was their first in five games.

Neil Smith’s side go into the game as Kent’s top ranked side in the division, but after seventeen games already find themselves twelve points from the Play Off places which shows just how important a fourth home League win of the season will be.

Looking to get into the National League are Welling United and following Saturday’s 3-1 win over Gloucester City at Park View Road, Steve King’s side went top of the table on goal difference from Billericay Town.  Next up for the Wings is a trip to sixth placed St Albans City in the knowledge that victory will give them an eight-point cushion over their hosts, as they look for a return to the National League’s top division.

In the BOSTIK South East League, Ramsgate boss Lloyd Blackman will be looking for a response from his players after their Trophy mauling at the weekend against AFC Hornchurch when Horsham come to Southwood, whilst Greenwich Borough face the long trip down the A21 to face fourth placed Hastings United who have only so far played seven league games such has been their early season form in the Cup competitions.

In BOSTIK League Cup (the Velocity Trophy), Folkestone Invicta play Sittingbourne at Cheriton Road, whilst in the SCEFL League Cup Tunbridge Wells host Erith Town, before on Wednesday Cray Valley host Holmesdale in the same competition and Whitstable Town entertain Tonbridge Angels in the Kent Senior Cup.
