This Halloween weekend there are plenty of chances for Kent’s sides to give their opponents a fright with many of our sides knowing three points can kick-start their season.
Dover Athletic returned to the top of the table on Tuesday thanks to a 3-1 home win over Woking. However, they’ll face a tough challenge this weekend when they face the long trip to Gateshead. This will be the Heed’s first match under the management of local hero Steve Watson and the former versatile Newcastle player will look to start with a win on Tyneside.
Facing opposing fortunes in the midweek fixtures were Ebbsfleet United who lost 1-0 at home to struggling Torquay on Tuesday night. Daryl McMahon’s side will be hoping for three points to bring their weekend to a close against Sutton United, who currently sit five points ahead of the North Kent club.
Bromley are also on the road this weekend in what is expected to be a tight game at Boreham Wood. Just one point separates the sides with the Ravens just a single spot away from the play-off positions meaning a win could be huge for both clubs.
Finally in the top tier of non-league football, Maidstone United sit level on points with Boreham Wood meaning a win at home against Chester could also sent them into the play-offs.
Much like the National League, there is a local side on top of the National League South. Dartford come into this weekend as one of four teams on 28 points at the top of the table, only first because of their goal difference. On Saturday afternoon they’ll look to further their lead when they welcome St Albans City to Princes Park.
The other game involving a Kent side at this level comes from just up the road where Welling United host Wealdstone. The hosts are also pushing for promotion this year and sit just two points away from the top four sides.
Following their win in midweek, Folkestone Invicta are just one point away from the play-off places in the Bostik Premier. However, this Saturday Neil Cugley’s side turn their attention to the FA Trophy in which they travel to Leiston on Saturday afternoon.
Elsewhere in the competition, Sittingbourne are at home to Merstham as they look to continue their impressive start to the season in a 2:30pm kick off, Hythe Town face a tough trip to Leatherhead and Tonbridge Angels welcome Heybridge Swifts to Longmead.
Elsewhere in the Trophy, Grays make the trip across the Thames to play Cray Wanderers and Margate travel to Staines Town.
The teams already out of the knockout competition are able to take part in regular league action this weekend. Ashford United at Whyteleafe, who find themselves at different ends of the table in the Bostik South, face off at Homelands whilst Herne Bay host Shoreham.
The final two matches in the top four tiers of Kentish non-league football are both coming out of the county which Phoenix Sports, whose manager left on Thursday evening, will play East Grinstead Town whilst Ramsgate welcome Guernsey in another early kick off in Thanet.
