Charlton finally got their man when they announced on Saturday that Ahmed Kashi will sign a deal on Monday.
The 26-year-old Algerian is a holding midfielder and is currently with Metz. Kashi is a player that is highly rated by Guy Luzon.
A strong Addicks line-up including Stephen Henderson, Chris Solly, Alou Diarra, Andre Bikey, Rhoys Wiggins, Johnnie Jackson and Igor Vetokele were named in the starting line-up. Unfortunately Henderson sustained an injury in the warm-up and had to be replaced by Dimita Mitov.
Australian trialist, Conor Ferguson, was on the bench with Southampton striker, Jake Sinclair. Dextra Pita and Nick Browne were the other trialists on the bench, while Staines’ Joe Aribo started.
Charlton also lost Rhoys Wiggins to a serious looking foot injury in the first half.
Aribo gave the Addicks the lead and a Johnnie Jackson special doubled the lead just before the break. Sinclair added a third midway through the second period after being played in by Josh Staunton.
Ashley Carew pulled one back from the penalty spot for Hamlet shortly after, and Jamie Mascoll notched a second for the hosts late on following a defensive lapse, but Charlton held on for a 3-2 win.
