Bob Peeters was scheduled to meet Reza Ghoochannejhad to discuss the striker’s future last Thursday.
Ghoochannejhad had requested a transfer and was talking to an unnamed Middle East club, but the deal fell through.
Though Ghoochannejhad was a spectator at the game with Southend at Sparrows Lane on Saturday, it seems certain he has played his last game for the Addicks.
A move away from The Valley will suit both parties, as Ghoochannejhad will command a decent fee, which will be used to help Peeters mould his squad.
Charlton are thought to be in the market for another striker and a creative midfielder, possibly a winger.
Peeters will be keen to complete his squad ahead of the big kick-off at Brentford on Saturday week.
It will be a busy week for the players as both the senior and Under-21 squads have midweek and Saturday games.
Jason Euell takes his team to Lewes on Tuesday and Bromley on Saturday, while Peeters’ side travel to Peterborough on Wednesday and Portsmouth on Saturday.
Pompey will be the last warm-up game for the Addicks and the there are likely to be less substitutions, with the first choice players likely to be given more minutes on the pitch.
Saturday’s match at Fratton Park will give the biggest clue to Peeters’ intended line-up for Griffin Park, late signings excepted.
