Kent racing driver Alex Nevill is set to begin his first full season of competition since 2020 over the Easter weekend, as he begins his campaign in the Britcar Trophy Championship at Donington Park in Leicestershire.
Having made his return to competition midway through the 2023 season, Alex has remained with the Dragon Sport team and his 2023 teammate, Travis Coyne, for this year’s edition of the endurance racing championship.
His pre-season preparations were considerably strengthened by the news of a new sponsorship deal with Gravesend based Jackaman Insurance Services, a commercial insurance broker who has helped Alex arrange personal accident cover for his motorsport activities.
The 2024 season begins for Alex and the Dragon Sport team at Donington Park, which was also the final stop on the 2023 tour.
The circuit holds fond memories for Alex, having claimed second in race one in October followed by a win in the Clio Cup class in the second race, that was later taken away from the team due to an unfortunate administrative error.
As the non-compliance held no performance advantage for the team, it still allows Alex to carry confidence into this weekend.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, Nevill said: “The 2023 season had a bitter-sweet conclusion for us at Donington, but knowing that we won the last race of the year on the road has left me feeling fired up to return there this weekend!” Alex enthused.
“Last year the Clio Cup class in the Britcar Trophy was probably the most competitive class in the championship and we expect it to be even harder to win this year. I’m really excited to get started with what promises to be a season of intense competition.”
The 2024 Britcar Trophy begins this Saturday with a pair of 50 minute races at 12:35 & 17:05 respectively. Both races will be live streamed on the British Automobile Racing Club’s YouTube channel.
