Following a 15-month hiatus Alex Nevill will return to motorsport competition this weekend where he will be competing in the EnduroKA series season opener at Donington Park in Leicestershire.
EnduroKA is a low-cost endurance race series where competitors race Mk1 Ford KA’s built between 2002 and 2008 with strict technical regulations in place to ensure that the racing remains cost effective and fiercely competitive.
The races are team relay endurance events with Sunday’s race scheduled to last for 5 hours. Alex previously made a cameo appearance in the series at Oulton Park in 2020 where his team were in contention for victory until penalties hampered their efforts.
For his return to the series, Alex will again be racing with Graves Motorsport with whom he was a title contender in the 2020 MINI CHALLENGE Cooper Trophy and where he works as a driver coach on their current MINI CHALLENGE and EnduroKA efforts.
The Kent racing driver will be sharing the drive with Frank Frostick, who has worked as a mechanic on Alex’s cars since he started in car racing in 2018, and Lee Horsley, who is one of Alex’s growing number of coaching clients through his motorsport events company Chicane Events.
Although his previous experience in the series saw him competing at the front of the grid, Alex is entering the event without any expectations. “I always race to win and I’ll give it my all as usual but my main focus this weekend is on making sure Lee enjoys his very first race.”
“As long as he does that and we all enjoy ourselves anything else will just be a bonus. That said I can’t wait to experience the thrill of competition again, it’s been a long wait for me and I’ve missed racing dearly in that time.”
“It’ll also be special for me to share the car with Frank, he’s been with me since my first car race but it’s the first time we’ll be teammates and I think that will be a great experience for both of us.”
Qualifying for the EnduroKA 5 hours of Donington Park begins on Sunday (3rd April) at 10:20am, followed by the race at 13:45pm. The event will be broadcast live on YouTube via the following link MSVR Club Championship 03 April 2022 at Donington Park – YouTube.
