Alex Nevill is determined to progress up the championship standings of the Mini Challenge Cooper Pro class, as the series embarks on its penultimate round of the 2019 season this weekend at Donington Park in Leicestershire.
The Kent racer currently lies 6th in the points standings in his first year in the Pro class, having been victorious in the Cooper Am class in 2018.
Whilst Alex sits just 5 points behind 5th place, a topsy-turvy year for all bar the top two competitors means that there are just 60 points covering 3rd through to 9th place, in a points system that awards 50 points for a race win, as well as bonus points for qualifying results and fastest laps.
It means the stakes are high as the grid heads into the final 2 rounds of the year, as Alex is all too aware.
“It’s vital that we bring our A-game to Donington this weekend, as well as for the final round next month,” Alex explains.
“The Cooper Pro class has been incredibly competitive all year, and I don’t expect it to be any different this weekend. Donington was the first circuit where I raced a car, and also where I had my first win so I’m looking forward to returning there.”
Round 6 of the championship features 3 races. Qualifying and race 1 will be on Saturday (28th September) and the other 2 races will be on Sunday.
