Following a lengthy mid-season break, Kent racing driver Alex Nevill is determined to carry his race winning momentum into the second half of the Britcar Trophy championship which begins this Sunday at the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.
Previously on home ground at Brands Hatch, Alex was able to claim his maiden win in the Clio Cup class of the championship followed by a third place finish in the second race, having lead the first half of the race convincingly before the “success penalties” kicked in at the mandatory pitstop (Alex’s car had to do a pit stop that was 15 seconds longer than the car in second place and consequently lost its lead).
Now Alex and the Dragon Sport team head from one Grand Prix circuit to another, where Alex will be joined in the number 12 Clio Cup car by 2023 Formula Vee champion Matthew Hyde.
The Northamptonshire venue was the scene for Alex’s first race with the Dragon Sport team 12 months ago and as such Alex is keen to return to “the home of British motorsport” to prove the progress that has been made within the last year.
“Silverstone was a tough debut for me last year with a 2 hour race in 30+ degree temperatures, that combined with the reliability issues we faced that day made for a fairly brutal welcome back to the sport!” Alex explained.
“But since then, the team has worked so hard on the issues we faced and
that all came to a head with our win at Brands Hatch last month! I feel like we’ve got a real opportunity to carry this momentum through the rest of the season, to keep fighting for wins and hopefully to get ourselves back into the championship fight.”
Round 6 and 7 of the Rowe Britcar Trophy championship will take place on Sunday 16th June at 12:40pm & 16:55pm respectively.
Both races will be live streamed on the British Automobile Racing Club’s YouTube channel.
