Kent’s clubs in the National League South suddenly find themselves without games this weekend after the League was suspended for two weeks.
A statement from The National League Board reads:
“Following the review of the feedback from Clubs in connection to the recent Clubs meeting, a Board meeting this morning decided to halt the participation in the North/South Divisions for a two-week period, effective immediately.”
“As a result, tomorrow’s games are formally postponed.”
The news will come as a blow to the five Kent clubs in the National League South.
Tonbridge Angels had already found themselves without a game this weekend as their tie against Hampton & Richmond Borough had been postponed due to Covid protocols.
However, Dartford were due to visit Dulwich Hamlet, Ebbsfleet United were set to host Chelmsford City, Steve Lovell was due to be taking charge of Welling United for the first time at Hungerford Town and Maidstone United were to make the trip to St Albans City.
With the five clubs now not in action for the next few weeks, it must cast some doubt as to whether the season will actually end now.
Many of the clubs at that level had been seeking assurances of financial support to continue with their seasons and without it, looked to not be able to fulfil their fixtures.
It’s certainly going to be an interesting next few weeks ahead.
