Rochester skier Max Moss is on course for an Olympics place should he carry on with the progression he has already made.
Moss is widely regarded as one of the most promising young skiers in Great Britain, with a record 8 National Children’s Titles backed up by his successes in his debut season as a Junior, including the 2012 Junior Super G British Title.
Max, who skis with Team Evolution Alpine Racing in Austria, was part of the 2011 British Youth Olympic Squad, and has already been selected to the 2012 British Junior Team, despite being only 16 years old.
Max has responded to his selection by stepping up the intensity of his training throughout pre season, working hard on a variety of training camps in the UK, France, South America and back in Austria.
By looking at the results since the last Team GB trials, all the training is paying off. Max has scored PB results in South America, and finished 2nd in the Slalom at the English Alpine Championships just behind teammate Max Baggio.
Programme Director Paul Telling explained “It’s great to have such a talented athlete training at the intensity that you see in Max, and, given his age, to have the knowledge and understanding that he has is brilliant.”
“It’s not an easy sport, however if he keeps skiing the way he does and taking on board all the advice then there is no reason why he can’t fulfil his potential.”
Whilst spending this winter studying for multiple A-Levels, Max will return to the Team Evolution training base in Austria, from where he can also follow the European Junior Circuit.
However, before that he will be in Norway for the last pre season camp, and will be looking to gain even more experience in International competition whilst there.
Max said, “I aspire to be on the World Cup Tour in the not too distant future and go on to compete at the Olympics, however this season is another journey that I am looking forward to taking in order to get there. If I keep doing what I am doing, working hard and hitting my targets then I know that I am on the right track.”
