Roger Johnson returned to The Valley on Monday, when he signed an 18-month contract.
The 32-year-old has been playing in India for Pune City.
Johnson will add experience and leadership to the Addicks’ back line, and will wear the number 28 shirt.
Johnson was joined at Sparrows Lane by 2013/14 Charlton Player Of The Year, Diego Poyet. Poyet has joined on loan from West Ham until the end of the season.
Poyet played five Europa League games for West Ham before the League season started. He then departed for a season long loan at Milton Keynes and played twenty games for the Dons.He had this to say on his return to SE7:
“It feels good to be back. Karel Fraeye first made contact with my agent and straight away I was really excited about the idea.
“I spoke to him and we got it done as quickly as possible. I’m just looking forward to the rest of the season.
“I was a little bit nervous last night, but excited about coming in and seeing the boys. I didn’t tell any of them that I was coming in, so it was a bit of a surprise to some of them seeing me pull in this morning!
“It’s been really nice to see everyone, including staff who have known me over the years, so it’s been really nice.
“I’ve finished my first training session, I really enjoyed it and I’m glad to be back,” said Poyet.
The midfielder had a loan spell at Huddersfield last season, so has seen plenty of Championship action since leaving The Valley. Poyet will have his old 39 squad number.
The duo join Saturday’s arrivals, Middlesbrough loanee Rhys Williams, and Callum Harriott who returned from a loan spell at Colchester.
Ayo Obileye and Joe Pigott also came back to the club on Monday. Obileye has been on loan at struggling League Two side, Dagenham & Redbridge, and Pigott returned from League One outfit, Southend United.
Karel Fraeye will be delighted to have six extra players available to him for Saturday’s trip to Colchester.
The Addicks recruitment drive is not over either. Yann Kermorgant is believed to still be very much in their sights, but there is still a way to go before that deal is completed.
Fraeye will be hopeful of adding at least one more player to his squad before the weekend.
