Bradley Ray scored another World Championship point in the latest round of the World Superbike season at Aaragon at the weekend.
That solitary point came in race one on Saturday afternoon, and he missed out in race two by less than a second on Sunday.
Brad started the first race in Aaragon from row six having qualified in 17th place.
The race was pretty much immediately halted with a red flag following a crash for other riders. The race was soon restarted but was reduced to 17 laps. Ray did not make the fastest start but was able to get into a good rhythm and cross the line fifteenth, scoring one championship point as a result.
Speaking after race one, Ray said: “It was a good race today. I lost a little time at the start and lost contact with the leading group as a result.
“I’m pleased with my race pace and know that tomorrow we can do even more. Thanks to the team for all their hard work.”
On Sunday morning, the rider from Lydd lined up on the sixth row of the grid for the ten-lap Superpole Race. Ray was able to maintain a very strong pace in the few laps eventually, finishing sixteenth.
Race two got underway in the afternoon and, having made a good start, Brad again showed consistent pace, which allowed him to place P16, just outside the points zone.
Giving his thoughts after the weekend, Ray said: “I’m pleased with the work done this weekend. Even if our results don’t seem that great, we’re actually really close to the other Yamahas and this is important.
“I’m pleased with that and keen to get back on the bike at Estoril when I’ll continue to work hard with my team.”
Brad now has a couple of weeks off before the next round takes place on 11-13 October at the Estoril Circuit in Portugal.
