Charlton returned to winning ways in Buckinghamshire on Saturday, courtesy of goals from Ahmed Kashi and Josh Magennis.
Kieran Agard netted for MK Dons two minutes after Magennis had doubled Charlton’s lead, but it proved to be no more than a consolation.
Mark Marshall was rested for this game, and Tariqe Fosu missed out with a groin problem. Ben Reeves and Joe Aribo replaced them in the starting line-up.
The Addicks started brightly and were in front after just ten minutes, and the goal came from an unlikely source.
Ahmed Kashi picked up a loose ball in midfield and thundered home from 25 yards.
Sullay Kaikai and Reeves both put in crosses that narrowly evaded Magennis as Charlton continued to dominate.
Reeves sent an effort narrowly wide from 25 yards as the half came to an end.
Kashi and Jake Forster-Caskey were playing slightly further up the field than usual, and were controlling the game. Forster-Caskey was producing a series of dangerous balls from set piece situations.
The game appeared to be over on the hour mark. Another quality cross from Forster-Caskey was headed home from close range by Magennis.
But things are never that simple where the Addicks are concerned. Agard headed in from close range to halve the arrears, and instill some belief in the hosts.
They had the upper hand for the next 15 minutes or so, but Charlton weathered the storm.
It was the visitors who went closest in the final few minutes, with Forster-Caskey and Magennis both going close.
The win was just the fillip Charlton needed to set them up for the Shrewsbury game next Saturday.
