Dylon Phibbs and Simon Rudd were on track this weekend in the Formula Four races at their home track of Brands Hatch.
They were part of the support series for the ever popular DTM German Touring Cars and enjoyed the weekend immensely.
As well as racing they were treated to a meeting with Formula One driver Jenson Button to pick up tips on racing.
In race one of the weekend the two Kent based drivers on their home track were battling each other well down the order with Bromley’s Dylon Phibbs having the better of the battle finishing a place ahead of Simon Rudd in 21st.
Luke Williams who was driving in the Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain for Rochester’s Jamun Racing finished 15th in his first race in the Formula Four category.
The race was won by Jake Dalton ahead of Charlie Robertson and Falco Wauer with Matthew Graham, Sennan Fielding and Jake Hughes rounding out the top six.
Race two saw both of the Kent based drivers improve on their race finishes with Phibbs finishing in 16th place and Rudd in 18th place, unfortunately Williams couldn’t improve on his position with a retirement on lap two.
Matt Bell the privateer was on the top step of the podium taking the race win with James Fletcher in second and the consistent Robertson rounding out the podium. The top six was rounded out by Jake Hughes, Dalton and Wauer.
In the final race of the weekend Rudd was the driver to come out on top in the battle of Kent finishing in 18th place with Dylon down in 20th place. After a sterling effort by his team Williams took to the grid and finished in 15th place.
The race win went to Robertson who made sure that he finished on the podium in all three races, with Dalton finishing in second and Raoul Hyman in third place.
The top six was rounded out by Matthew Graham, James Fletcher and Falco Wauer, with Bell in seventh, Lima in eighth, Menchaca in ninth and Jack Barlow tenth.
The weekend saw Phibbs pick up his first points in the Championship with six in total, and Simon Rudd added another six points to his total with him now sitting on 17 points and in 21st place in the standings.
The championship now moves to Snetterton over the weekend of the 15th and 16th June as a support race for the British GT weekend for rounds seven, eight and nine.
We will here from both Simon and Dylon over the next week to hear their thoughts on racing at their home track.
