It was a week of mixed fortunes for Denni Frater at Walmer & Kingsdown GC last week.

In the final of the Ladies’ Foursomes knockout competition she partnered Gill Young to victory at the third extra hole over Pam Ashdown and Jane Willis.

But in the final of the Ladies’ Singles Championship Denni was beaten 3&2 by Sandy Fox.

Club president Des Ladd held his ladies’ President’s Day on Saturday when the winner was Sue Hill and the runner-up Pam Ashdown.

In the men’s section Mark Taylor and Justin Channing defeated Neil Branston and Rob Paul 2&1  in the final of the Wells Cup four-ball better ball competition.

BLOB  Gavin Webb won the £2,000 first prize in the PGA Kent Open at Prince’s GC.

The Manston Golf Centre professional fired a two-round six-under-par total of 138 to finish one shot in front of four joint runners-up, Jordan Loft (Prince’s), Richard Wallis (Canterbury), Alex MacGregor (Addington Court) and Billy Hemstock (Roehampton).
