Invicta Dynamos completed their double away game weekend with victory against Milton Keynes Thunder to ensure it was four points from the available four points for Kevin Parrish’s team.
The Dynamos lined-up minus Mark Lee, Grant Baxter, Peter Beerling and Frankie Harvey. Mark McGill started in the nets.
Invicta dominated the first period with Callum Fowler testing MK Thunder netminder Damien King just after the first minute in what would be a number of saves King would make to keep the Dynamos frustrated. King in particular impressed when MK were down to three skaters after Paul Gore and Simon Howard served early penalties, but the score remained nil-nil during the powerplay.
Further chances fell to Juraj Huska and Callum Fowler but despite effort and grit the score would remain goalless at the end of the first period.
The second period started with Juraj Huska and Adam McNicoll both being denied by Damien King, whilst at the other end Invicta netminder Mark McGill done well to save from MK’s Tom Mboya.
The deadlock was finally broken on 27 minutes, Callum Fowler cutting through the MK defence to square to Andy Smith for a typical finish from the Dynamo’s star forward.
The lead only lasted for three minutes, MK import Piotr Poziomkowski equalising after being found in a good position by Jamie Line. With 22 shots being fired at Damien King in the second period, Michal Oravec, Harrison Lillis and Juraj Huska were just a few who were unable to add goals in the second period.
The first five minutes of the final period started with both teams not giving much away, however when Andy Smith and Callum Fowler combined to leave Huska facing King, it was the Dynamos forward who got the better of King to give the Dynamos a 2-1 lead in the 45th minute.
Penalties on Anthony Leone (charging) and Nicky Lewis (hooking) left the Dynamos defending a 3-on-5 but remarkably it was the Dynamos who went further ahead via the speed and skill of Andy Smith on 48:36.
MK made the extra men count 20 seconds later when Harrison Goode pulled the score back to 3-2 in favour of the Dynamos. Mark McGill went on to deny Sam Gore and Harrison Goode in the final minutes but it was the Dynamos who held firm and took away another two points.
MK netminder ended-up facing 48 shots from the Dynamos with a save percentage of 93.75%, whilst at the other end Mark McGill faced 29 shots to give him a decent 93.10% save percentage.
Andy Smith took the man of the match award having played a part in all three of the Dynamos goals.
