The Invicta Dynamos returned to winning ways with a decisive victory in Milton Keynes on Sunday night.
Despite missing 6 players from the roster including Callum Fowler and Nicky Lewis it took under a minute for the Dynamos to open the scoring. On 28 seconds, Conor Redmond played the puck to Arran Strawson who cut a pass through the middle of the pad for Bailey Wootton to collect in between two defenders and race forward and beat netminder Stephen Wall.
On 03:45 the Dynamos lead was doubled – Steve Osman skating around the back of Wall’s net and squeezing the puck past the netminder with assists claimed by Eriks Ozollapa and Arran Strawson. Although the goal was scored by Steve Osman the officials put the goal scorer down as Elliott Dewey for his first Invicta goal of his career.
The goal scoring for the first period was rounded-off by Josh Condren on 11:35, taking on a pass from Harrison Lillis and roofing a shot beyond Wall.
Spencer Caminsky replaced Stephen Wall in the MK Thunder net for the second period and the new netminder kept the Dynamos out for 15 minutes, saving well from Ozollapa and Adam McNicoll. However, on 35:07 Jacob Ranson fed Bailey Wootton who produced a save from Caminsky only for Conor Redmond to tap home for 4-0 to the Kent side.
Two minutes later the Invicta Dynamos took a 5-0 lead into the third period by scoring on 37:08 – Jack Lee hitting the puck towards the net and Brad Gutridge nipping in to score past Caminsky.
A penalty against Ross Bowers was costly for MK Thunder with Invicta scoring on the powerplay on 41:23 – Steve Osman and Arran Strawson linking to feed Ozollapa who converted for 6-0.
Goal of the game came on 47:28. Elliott Dewey knocked the puck forward to Ozollapa who sped past two markers and rounded Caminsky to tap the puck into an empty net. It would only take 22 seconds for Ozollapa to complete his hat-trick – Steve Osman and Arran Strawson again assisting the Latvian who beat Caminsky with ease for 8-0.
The scoring was completed on 52:17, Adam McNicoll feeding Ozollapa despite falling to the deck for Ozollapa to cunningly lift the puck over Caminsky for a 9-0 victory – Arran Strawson claiming his 5th assist of the night.
So a shutout for Damien King who kept out 20 MK Thunder attempts but the man of the match award went to Eriks Ozollapa for his four goal haul and one assist. For the home side, Tom Mboya collected the man of the match beers.
